Blog #5: Trained to Reign

Updated: Jul 4, 2024

Growing up, my siblings and I were homeschooled by our parents. From a very young age, they emphasized the importance of health and fitness.

Twice a week in the cooler months, every morning started with either an early horseback riding session or a desert hack. We would be up at the crack of dawn to ride the horses and go for an invigorating hack through the desert sand or do various classes inside the arena.

On two other days, it was time for an aerobic exercise class. My parents arranged a tutor who would take us through high-intensity cardio workouts, pushing us to our limits.

Twice a week, we would also hit the gym for strength training. Our parents designed personalized workout routines for each of us, ensuring we were building muscle and getting stronger. Running was another non-negotiable - we had to log several miles a day, no matter how tired we felt.

On top of all that, our parents insisted we attend ballet and swimming lessons. They wanted us to be well-rounded, with a variety of physical skills. The discipline required for ballet, combined with the cardio of swimming, made us into incredibly fit and capable young people.

Looking back, I can see that our strict fitness regimen was our parents' way of grooming us. They wanted to instill healthy habits that would stay with us for life. While it was tough at times, I'm grateful they pushed us so hard. It's shaped me into a disciplined, active adult who prioritizes my physical and mental well-being. These lessons I learned as a child have truly stuck with me.
